Join me in my love affair with wire working!
Rarely do I offer a straight-up link making class, in person. The reason is that working with wire can be challenging! Many instructors don't even venture into the fascinating world of wirework.
After years of working with wire, I'm excited to share my wealth of knowledge and technique with you online, via Link Love. I'll show you, close up, the right way to work with wire so that your links come out to perfection...every time.
We'll be creating tons of gorgeous cold links as well as doing some silver soldering...and chain making; hot and cold. Every jewelry maker should have a collection of go-to links to enhance their pieces. In this class, I'll give you the skills you need to make that goal a reality.
As with all of my workshops, I like to show you lots of versatile techniques done in my style: relaxed, well made, and well thought-out.
Some of what you'll get:
I'll walk you through the step-by-step of each link, to make it easy and understandable.
- How to make the most versatile wrapped link...ever
- Creating a perfect spiral
- Making connections
- Adding beads
There will be lots of focus to detail that will help to perfect your work.
- Twisted wire, annealing, drawing a bead on wire, shaping, flattening
- Working with a butane torch
- Silver soldering for chain making
- Finishing and operating a tumbler
I'll show you my tips and tricks for wirework You'll learn some classic links as well as some of my own original creation. 22 different links, in all, including the following:
- Jump rings; plain and twisted...soldered and cold closed
- Abacus Link
- Double Spiral Link
- Cloverleaf Link
- S Link
- Spiral and Post Link
- Double Hoop Link
- Arrow Link
- Scroll Link
- much, much more!
I'll show you how to make the lovely Herringbone Weave...
...my own beautiful Scroll Link...
...and I'll even walk you through the process of creating an incredible Egyptian Coil bracelet. This classic link dates back thousands of years to ancient Egypt and makes for an amazing necklace or bracelet.
One of the most versatile things you'll learn is not really a link but a very clever end crimp: the Spring End Crimp. You'll be able to use this on leather, rubber, silk, fabric and even rhinestone chain:
You'll have unlimited access to my private online classroom, for the duration of the workshop, including the following:
- Jammie access! Videos available 24/7 the entire duration of the class, beginning on day one
- Complete tool and supply list (available upon registration)
- Tools and supplies overview, advice and resources

What my students have said:
Susan: I have taken three of Deryn's on-line classes with much gratitude for her unique teaching ability unlike any other instructor. She is a true treasure ......... so generous and never holds back her knowledge. It sets her apart from others. I have been so fortunate to have found her and she has opened my eyes to a whole new world.
Heidi: This is my 3rd class with Deryn and she's the best out there. Considering the amount of info packed into these videos, this is the best bang for the buck there is. Plus, you can watch them in your jammies at 2AM, which is what I am doing. Who needs sleep when you can play with fire and pound on metal?
Anonymous: Thank you for putting together the DREAM course in my opinion. There are so many workshop/courses out there that have either been misleading, disappointing or I realized the content was beautiful but the course lacking.... Your course description was like a breath of fresh air, I knew I HAD TO HAVE IT. I think I have taken enough online courses to see you are the real deal and I am very much looking forward to taking another. Thank you for your time and efforts to feel it was important enough to share yourself online.
