Do you love beauty and whimsy? Are you crazy about paints, stamps and ephemera? With this fun mini-workshop, I'm excited to be teaching my method of altering antique cabinet cards.
What the heck is a mini-workshop? I'm glad you asked! This class is a bit less extensive than my other online workshops. Because of this, the cost will also be less...yay! Since this is a mini, I will not be personally available to students, as I am in my regular classes, but students will have access to the videos and class material 24/7. Here's the kicker...while my other online classes run for 2-3 months, you'll have access to this class indefinitely!
In Altering the Past, I'll show you how to create beautiful altered cabinet cards. We'll be collaging and painting real antique cabinet cards using paints, inks, papers, ephemera, stamps, rub ons and more.
Cabinet cards are a unique piece of history. By altering them, I feel that we're honoring those who came before and that their images aren't just wasting away in some dusty bin. I'll show you how to make them vibrant and gorgeous.
Your finished cards can be used in an art journal, artist's book or as a one-of-a-kind, stand alone, piece of artwork.
Some things we'll cover in this class are:
- Videos available 24/7 the entire duration of the class, beginning on day one
- Complete tool and supply list (available upon registration)
- Tools and supplies overview, advice and resources
- cabinet card prep
- composition and design
- using paints, inks, walnut ink, gel medium, stamps, pens, rub on stamps and metal leaf
- collage with ephemera and papers
- keeping wet media from becoming muddy
- creating and using foam stamps
- embellishments
- finishing
