The latest crusade for Michelle Ward's Green Pepper Press Street Team is "mail art". Although I rarely take time for it, I love to make and send mail art. Somehow I'm more free to experiment with mail art pieces than with my regular collage. I have a box of paper scraps, postage stamps and odds & ends that I restrict myself to while playing. Whatever is in the box is what I have to work with as far as images and paper. I usually can't keep from using paint as well. Maybe throw in a little colored pencil here and there. And this is a great time to bring out a few rubber stamps or maybe a penscore stamp that I've made. I usually don't have a theme in mind when I start so whatever percolates to the top is what ends up on the envelope.
This one is about 7" x 9" and was thrown together in about 20 minutes. After I got a background down, the lighthouse in the bottom right corner appeared. Then, some ladies danced into the picture. Of course, their dancing had to be done at the edge of the sea and under the stars. I just happened to have the perfect postage stamps to send my ladies on their way!
