It's Christmas time, ya'll!
I'm completely and totally addicted to all things Christmas and am so excited to share one of my treasured traditions, with you. I love creating custom ornaments and have a large collection of handmade, artisan ornaments. Much of my collection has come from my annual ornament swap. There's nothing quite like receiving those gorgeous and unique ornaments from my artist friends!
It's long been a dream of mine to share my ornament designs from Christmases past, so I've created a series of online classes called "An Ornamental Christmas." There will be a new class, every year, and...who knows...maybe even a guest designer, or two! The Merry Men of Winter is the first in this series.
Bring on the snow!
In this workshop, I'll show you my secrets to creating the most precious snowman you've ever seen. There are many variations for this little guy and lots of ways to embellish him. There's more to our merry men than carrots and coal!
Once you've created your snowman, you can hang him right on your tree, or, I'll show you how to incorporate him into a snowy diorama ornament.
There are lots of options for the ornament so I'll be presenting several of them and giving you resources for supplies.
As with all of my workshops, I like to show you lots of versatile techniques. One of my favorite options for these little guys is incorporating them into necklaces. I'll be discussing some design options for necklaces as well as demonstrating a couple of techniques.
While this is not a jewelry making class, per se, I'll teach you how to make a bead link that you'll use over and over again. This link is all you'll need to create a necklace...you'll use it in tons of other pieces, as well.
Included in this class is instruction on how to make my petite toggle clasp. This little clasp is completely handmade and is a terrific addition to your jewelry making skill set.
Some of what you'll get:
You'll have unlimited access to my private online classroom, for the duration of the workshop, including the following:
- Jammie access! Videos available 24/7 the entire duration of the class, beginning on day one
- Complete tool and supply list (available upon registration)
- Tools and supplies overview, advice and resources
What else you'll get when you take an online class with me:
As a pioneer in online jewelry making classes, I strive to make sure my workshops are of the highest quality. They include highly detailed videos that you'll be able to watch as many times as you like; no driving, no airfare, no hotels and no schlepping your heavy stuff! You will be looking over my shoulder, as I work in my studio. You’ll have continual access to my classroom. Like to work in your jammies?...the videos will be at hand…a click away…any time of day or night, for you to view as many times as you want. My workshops are fluid, friendly, work-at-your-own-pace classes.
Once you register, a complete tool list will be made available, along with a resources list and other downloadable files. The tools and supplies required for this class are pretty straightforward and you probably already have much of what you need.
This is a great way to kick off the Christmas season. I feel so blessed to finally be able to offer my ornament series and hope you'll join me!

What my students have said:
Susan: I have taken three of Deryn's on-line classes with much gratitude for her unique teaching ability unlike any other instructor. She is a true treasure ......... so generous and never holds back her knowledge. It sets her apart from others. I have been so fortunate to have found her and she has opened my eyes to a whole new world.
Heidi: This is my 3rd class with Deryn and she's the best out there. Considering the amount of info packed into these videos, this is the best bang for the buck there is. Plus, you can watch them in your jammies at 2AM, which is what I am doing. Who needs sleep when you can play with fire and pound on metal?
Lori: I just had to send you an email to let you know how much I love the class! The classes (you) have exceeded my expectations. My husband saw me watching the videos last night (the first time I really got a chance to sit down and view), and he asked me if they were better or worse than I thought they would be…I told him they were definitely better than what I had hoped for! The instruction and the content are exactly what I was looking for and lacking in my jewelry making. I’ve never had a better teacher.
Lena: Another great class. well organized. so easy to follow each step. so much fun to watch and learn. plus, as an added bonus, the results are beautiful!!!!
