Over the last year, I've been working on a new studio space for myself. I've been remiss in showing you all photos of it but, I promise, I will! I even have a little video...
What a joy it is to have more room. But still, my studio is small compared to most so I've found that good storage solutions are a must. Lately, I've been searching for a way to store my files. Files should be stored separated from each other, as opposed to all thrown into the same bin. Stored together, files rub on each other and become dull. After much searching for just the right thing, I happened across this vintage pipe stand and thought it might work.
I really wanted something to go with the vintage-y, industrial-ish look of my space. Of course, in my eyes, old would be better than new. I was hoping my files fit into this little rack and, sure enough...a perfect fit! The files are separated and happy, each in their own slot.
When my friend, Ronnie, spotted this much larger version...well...I couldn't resist the storage possibilities. This one has spaces for 24 pipes...
...or 24 of whatever I want to store; scissors, awls, brushes, even a few small hammers.
As an added bonus, the bottom is covered with felt so I can just slide it out of the way if I want to keep it in front of my metal drawer storage units.
I picked up this great old awl, too (second from the right.) I love the patina that years of use has left on the wood handle. I seem to have an affinity for old awls, lately.
So, of course, I had to have this one. Who doesn't need a pet opener???
I'm sure Miss Mayzie will appreciate this gizmo.
Irradiated milk...yum!

Great look for the file holder. I live in a Manhattan apartment, so I'm always conscious of space for my materials.

Great idea! Thanks for sharing it-a pipe holder is now on my most wanted list!
