Yes, indeed...progress is being made. My house is filled with dust and residue but, we have cabinets. And, they're fabulous!
Of course, everything is still covered in plastic so you're just going to have to trust me...they're fabulous. I believe that, at this very moment, the granite is being cut for the countertops.
As with all projects of this type, one thing leads to another. It's unavoidable. So now, the living room and entry will get a brand new coat of paint...a soft, dark-ish gray. What the heck...everything is in chaos anyway! Kitchen walls will be a warm, medium color of taupe to go with the glaze on the cabinets. I'm hoping this combo will give me a serene, calming effect when the whole thing is done. Until then, you can find me hiding in my room...the only untouched room in the house. Oh, did I not mention? We're in the process of painting the upstairs, ourselves.
Brain, please begin to function properly again! Sanity, please return!

My father was a custom home building contractor, and I may be in a minority, but I love, I mean LOVE to live in the midst of construction chaos! I could just smell the construction scents of my childhood through your photos! Your kitchen is going to be GORGEOUS! Peaceful and serene are definitely feeligss that you inspired in me! Love it! Totally jealous!

Hi Deryn,
Your kitchen is looking good and you are just going to love it when it's done. Miss taking a class from you and can't wait 'til your next one.

It's a good thing you guys have a solid marriage-- statistics show that many divorces begin with major interior dec projects. True! We just finished some painting for my sis's visit and got through it without major threats of violence.

Hoping it is all done soon. It is looking great.
I was hoping to finish a piece for your challenge - but sick kitties are still taking up lots of my time - so the idea is there, materials have been laid out, but it will take a bit... darn.

Oh, this does bring me back to when we did up the kitchen in the old house. It was a kitchen straight out of 1949. It was chaos. It was fantastic. It was oh, so nice to be done. And it spilled over into all of the rest of the house. Best of luck with the sanity. It will be so worth all of the disruption in the end.

I feel your pain Deryn, remodeling while living in the middle of it can bring you to the point of a breakdown. The dust takes on a life of it's own and goes everywhere! Sometimes it feels as if you'll never have your house back to normal, but hang in there, it'll all be great soon!

OMG - we've been remodeling since May and are only now getting to the kitchen. Consider yourself lucky ... oh, but I cannot wait to see how it all turned out. Sounds perfectly posh.
I just finished recording two of our workers taking up the subfloor in the kitchen to make way for hardwoods. It's a ZOO - but just think how happy we shall be ... someday :)

In our last house my husband and I gutted our 1920's king cement bathroom....we had dust for a year I swear!
Your cabinets look great so far, so airy, and the colors you describe sound so soothing.
