Just a little teaser of my trip to Virginia for ArtBliss, this year. Wife Whisperer was my sherpa, shlepper and touring companion. We took many fun side trips. On the road to Gettysburg, he pulled off at a tiny, ancient church and cemetery so I could snap a few shots of this lone angel, standing watch over her appointed grave. I was absolutely swarmed by mosquitoes but she was gorgeous.
I've been fiddling around with her, this morning. I should have my bazillion shots of the trip edited and ready to post by, oh....next October.
ArtBliss was fabulous!
This is a shot taken by Carol Myers of our fearless organizers, Cindy and Jeanette, and some of the instructors...my sweet friend and classroom assistant, Ronnie (lower center.) Fun stuff, I tell you.
Hey...y'all are awfully quiet out there! Was it something I said? :) I know you're there but the crickets are killing me. Let me hear from you. It keeps me going!
Oh....also....thank you SO much for playing along in the Create Mixed Media drawing for the spots in my Build Zone Class. We've got the winners and the spots are spoken for. It was a very enthusiastic response! First day of class was yesterday and we're going great guns (it's not too late to register!) I love giving stuff away so this was great fun for me. My plan is to clear out my studio space while my kitchen is being remodeled. Ambitious, no? In the process, I'm hoping to put together some goodie bag give aways... Who knows what I'll find buried in there?!
xxoo deryn

My word, she is beautiful! As all your angels are. Yes, I am just quiet, and catching up on reading, too.

Hey Deryn, I think it's been quiet everywhere lately. I know that I am still trying to catch my breath before I tackle a new pile of things that I must get done. It was such a joy and pleasure to have you join us ArtBLISS and I am happy that you took a few extra days to take some time to yourself and explore the area.

Deryn, I was waiting for some photos! Happy to see your "tease" shots! Not sure if you got my email, but I was curious to know where you ended up going ...I'm glad you made it to Gettysburg finally. I know you've been wanting to go there. This is a beautiful picture of an angel in the cemetery standing her vigilant watch. It reminds me of the cemetery shots you used to post years ago when I first found your blog. :-) I love the layers that you added to the picture.

Love the photo. I too am mesmerized by cemetary angels. My dear mom just passed away on Sept. 21st. I am in shattered but she is my angel now.
blessings and peace,
Cynthia

Hi Deryn....It HAS been quiet on the blogging homefront for sure.....so I'll leave a comment. I DO ALWAYS check your blog....love seeing and hearing what your creativity is up to. I still have a few suitcases full of jewelry makings for that someday....project!!! Did you get to Round Top this year?....it was hot, dry and dusty and then cooled the last three days. And we had one miracle downpour!!! If you went, show us your finds....we always love hearing about the jewelry and things you put together in such a fabulous way!!!

Can't wait to see more of this creative bunch!!
Love your angel photo! I did the same a few years ago and ditto...the mosquito's were ferocious! That was the last time!

ArtBliss sounded magical. It would have been too much for me to bear to be in the same room with all the people I admire most. I got a taste of what ArtBliss is all about when I went there in March for Stephanie Lee's class. So delightful. One of these days I hope to get back there and also hope to take a class with you! The encaustic stuff sounded so awesome!
Enjoy the day!

So funny that you mention being swarmed by mosquitos at the cemetery. I had my bridal portraits done in a cemetery and there is one shot with me with my arms outstretched and I had to remain still but there were mosquitos all over me!
Can't wait to see the rest of your pics!
