Hello small, green and sticky!
Well, not exactly a newt. What is a newt, anyway? As I grabbed my cup-o-joe and headed for the backyard, this little critter was there to greet my morning.
How are you, my friends? I have to say, I'm not quite ready for the predicted "end of the world" tomorrow. I've got new kitchen appliances coming and, I'm wondering, would you like to come along with me on my kitchen redeaux? After 16 years and a bit of tussling, Wife Whisperer has agreed...we're quite in need of a remodel.
Also, I feel like I can say "redeaux" instead of "redo" because we used to live in Louisiana. Only for three years, but still. One of my babies was born there so I feel I have the right to use fun words like "lagniappe" and "sussie." And throw in an "eaux" suffix here and there. It's fun. Try it.
This right here is how the whole thing started. Well...actually, the whole thing started with the weather. It's always the weather...right? We had another unusually cold winter, in Houston, and the wise-and-glorious-powers-that-be decided it was a wise-and-glorious idea to impose rolling electrical brown/black outs on our humble households. Chaos ensued. In our case, in the form of electrical surges...causing an ongoing tiny-but-dangerous campfire in our breaker box...resulting in the eventual failure of our oven and our air conditioning units...well, you get the picture. It seems one thing leads to another in the world of the homeowner. We weren't really planning this redeaux at this moment but... The thing is, we got all excited over a big, giant appliance sale and went ahead with it and now have appliances coming to our house on exactly the day the apocalypse is set to happen (best sale of all time + insurance check = super duper dream range and other super duper dream appliances...somebody pinch me.) Huh. I was really looking forward to this new range.
If anyone tries to flag you down, calling out, 'Here's the Messiah!' or points, 'There he is!' don't fall for it. Fake Messiahs and lying preachers are going to pop up everywhere. Their impressive credentials and dazzling performances will pull the wool over the eyes of even those who ought to know better. But I've given you fair warning. So if they say, 'Run to the country and see him arrive!' or, 'Quick, get downtown, see him come!' don't give them the time of day. Mt 24:23-26
But the exact day and hour? No one knows that, not even heaven's angels, not even the Son. Only the Father knows. Mt 24: 36

yeah, we're having our living room furniture delivered today. i only ordered them a month ago. but hey, i'm ready for the zombie hoards, lol

OK, a Newt is like a slimy salamander they are found around watery and warmer areas or something like that.....as for your range YES it is to die for!!!!But consider this will it mean you cooking and baking more? Will there be comments like " We got you that new stove so you could cook at home not go out to eat" or " now we can have everyone over and you can cook up a storm on that new range- let's show it off"??? You deserve a range like that even if you do not open a diner.Have fun!

Thankyou so very much for your Christian witness. I appreciate it so much. I'm also very jealous of the stove but I know you'll enjoy it. I also love, love, love your creations. Will be looking for your post tomorrow.

I'm with you, feeling pretty confident that tomorrow isn't the day...could be today, but definitely not tomorrow. I've been sharing that scripture too, funny how all these kooks seem to miss it.
That is one fancy range, do you need special certification to use it {just kidding}. Enjoy!

Aaaaaaaw, that range makes me drool, too!
Will you be posting before, during and after photos, pretty please?
We've been in our house for 28 years, the kitchen is vintage 1920s. Wall hung cast iron sink, no counter space, little bit of cupboards, but with a nice pantry....always wanted to re-do it but never saw anything I'd like as much as the character of what we have. Even with the porcelain wearing off the sink and the cast iron showing through...
And is that a tree frog or a peeper? Are they the same thing? Didn't know you had them in Texas!
End of the world tomorrow? I'm not ready yet, it's gotta wait.....
Please, now that you've told us, I reeeeally want to see kitchen progress reports.

Hey he looks like a flatback frog (I made up that species!) Yeah, Mom called to tell me about the end tomorrow (I don't watch the news) and she said I might want to get my affairs in order. I said that if we're going home tomorrow, I'm gonna do NOTHING today -- unless maybe pile up and read! LOL. If someone knows something me, you, the angels, and the Son doesn't know -- then at least you won't need a new kitchen!

The 'end of the world' - already? But I still have projects to finish...
and it would be such a shame not to get to use all the new appliances you ordered. Sounds like it will be a wonderful redeaux!
BTW, a newt is a small amphibian with a tail. They're cute.

I always enjoy being greeted by nature, and he looks very similar to one I photographed a couple of weeks ago. And oooh, ahhhh on the applicances, but I think I might feel the need to wear a chef's hat with that one!

Congradulations on the great kitchen remodel... gotta love the crazy scary wiring issues.
As far as tomorrow goes... Wouldn't it be great if the truth was told all over the world...Instead of this crazy person taking all the attention!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Enjoy...
