Here it is...a picture of my feet. I'm not all that fond of random foot photos posted to blogs but this one has a purpose. See those Chuck Taylors? Those are the perfect gift. Not because of their coolness factor or their fab color (which are both great)...because of something less showy but way more important; the look on Number One's face when I wore them for the first time. It was my pleasure to see that look of expectant anticipation turn to a wash of excitement and happiness as he watched me open his gift. Repeated when I wore them for the first time. That satisfied feeling of knowing you've found just the right offering for someone you love is something even more important than the gift itself. The giving. The act of sacrifice of thought and time. The greater gift.

DH could not go wrong by giving you shoes for Christmas! :)
Happy New Year!!

Don't ya just love it when it hits the right note?
My child bought me TWO pink cups I wanted from WalMart. By the time I returned to the store to purchase them they only had blue. I was sooo thrilled to get the pink ones. I use one every day. And your right, seeing her pleasure for me using her gift is worth more than all the gold in USA.
Have a blessed and creative New Year!

These are great! When my husband taught in graduate school, he went through this phase ... which lasted probably too long to be considered a phase ... of wearing different colored Chuck Taylor's ... turquoise, red, yellow, orange ... to class. The students confided in him some time much later in the semester that they used to take bets among themselves on which color he would wear to that class! It was definitely fun. #1 has got you stylin'!

Aw-w-w, that's so great! And besides the shoes are cool, too. I got a similar response from my grandkids when I opened their gift to me - a specially made T-shirt with my own univesity-looking letter...a big M that says "Mimi" on it. I love it and I got a matching tote! I'm a styling Mimi now.

Oh, that is so very, very true Deryn! I bet he was beaming =)
One of my perfect gifts was an "official" USPS electronic postal scale from my DH....gotten all on his own! LOL!

Very cool gift - so much love!
My husband went the extra mile - he got me some sheet metal (bronze and nickel silver) and he organized some empty cigar boxes - I am in heaven.

Oh those are BEAUTIFUL, Deryn! One of the best presents I received this season was a box of pasta. Which is quite ordinary, on normal occasions - but this time, this friend took the time to find me gluten-free pasta as she's aware of my recent symptom escalation. It was a beautiful, thoughtful gift that made me cry.
