Now that my online class, "Of Towers and Turrets" is up and running smoothly, I finally got time to work on a few pieces of jewelry. Remember this bezel I made as a class sample? I decided to play off the colors from the image inside the bezel, mix in some chrysocolla heishi and a few faceted rubies and...wah la (which is how it's said, here in Texas)...
My favorite part of this piece, besides the bezel, is the handmade clasp....love, love the giant hook and wrapped eye. Wanna learn how to do it? It's in the works, with some other exciting things. In the meantime, if you like the bezel, we've started the metal working part of our workshop over in the classroom. It's absolutely crazy fun and the students are oh-so-talented! Take a peek at some of what they've accomplished, so far...

Wow, Deryn! I didn't know that you had an online class! Is it too late to join? I'll have to think about it if it's not.
Nice to see your latest work!

Lisa

All three of these are really great. The project itself is so unique and all three students really out their own spin on it as well.

Hey Missy Deryn,
You really do make a mean hook and eye!! Your work is always executed perfectly which in it's self is a great tutorial!! :)
It may surprise you to know there is a handful of us students who have not really started yet. We are waiting for the herd to pass so we can have you and Susan all to ourselves!!!

Hi again - one question. Will you be showing your amazing wire wrapping in the Towers and Turrets class or in another class? I love the way you wrap so the tops of the gemstones are wrapped in some of your pieces!

Hi Deryn - I am loving the class!! It's stretching me creatively (especially the painting part, which I ended up really enjoying and can't wait to do more of) and the jewelry part is so exciting to me - learning new ways of doing things! I would LOVE a class that includes making closures, etc. I can't wait to see what you have coming up!! Thank you for all of your amazing creativity!
