We want you...to attend the Inaugural Event (drum-roll and fireworks, please)....ArtBliss! Co-founders Cindy Wimmer and Jeanette Blix Ryan had a dream to bring inspiring mixed media and jewelry workshops to the Washington D.C. area. After much hard work, their dreams have come to fruition with ArtBliss retreats.
Cindy and Jeanette have some wonderful things in store for attendees of their grand first event. First off, my friend Richard Salley will be kicking things off with a sold-out, create-for-a-day workshop coming up on May 24th. Then, for the big inaugural event...
...I'm more than thrilled to announce that I'll be teaching at ArtBliss, along with three teachers you will love. Kerry Bogert, Melissa Manley and Lesley Venable will be offering must-take classes. It's quite an impressive line-up! I'm so excited about this venue! Cindy and Jeanette have done a fantastic job organizing and preparing and it promises to be a wonderful retreat. Here's what I'm offering:
I love this line-up of classes. Crowned Gems is such a fun class with lots of great metal-working techniques...the easy way. Link Love is a new class for me to teach and I'm really looking forward to it as it allows for a lot of student creativity in the classroom. And, my Musical Notes earrings, featured in a recent issue of Step by Step Wire Jewelry, have generated a lot of interest. In that class, you'll get a primer on using Ice Resin.
The retreat will be held September 24th to 26th, 2010 at the Washington Dulles Hampton Inn Hotel. If you have a spare moment left after the fantastic workshops, there are tons of things to do and see in the area. Cindy and Jeanette have graciously posted some of them on the website, here. They're even working on an online ArtBliss shop and a group site, not to mention a twitter site to keep you updated. I'm looking forward to an outstanding retreat, checking out some Civil War sites and seeing some of D.C. for the very first time. You can see why I'm so thrilled! Registration begins June 13th...I hope to see you at the Meet and Greet!

deryn, would you be able to share your source for the pieces of brass(?) in your crowned gems? i've looked everywhere and the closest thing i think i can find is something called gallery wire? i would love the help if you can. thanks so much!

Oh Deryn,
I have only one word for how I feel about this awesome, fantastic, ginormous, neato banito retreat..SOOOOOOOB!!!! This will prove to be one of the best retreats of 2010 and I'll just be standing with my nose pressed against the Bloglandian window. Little Mama does everything first class and professional!!!This retreat can be nothing else!!
Be sure you take your camera, extra batteries and memory card!!! Cuz we want tons of pictures! :) Ohhhh and if you have never been to DC look out missy!! Pack "these boots were made for walking" you are going to need them. There's all of the Smithsonian Museums, the capital mall, all the monuments. Oh and Arlington Cemetery for sure. For those of us that love to explore cemeteries it's ever so much different then any you have seen before. But don't get your hopes up to add to your angel collection, they aren't there.
