Great news! I am pleased to announce that I'm officially a Certified Instructor for Susan Lenart Kazmer's terrific product Ice resin.
What this means is that, if you've never used this resin, or are not familiar with it, I can help answer your questions about it.
If you're looking for a certified instructor to teach the in's and out's of ICE Resin, contact me for more information.
I've used other resin products in the past and, quite honestly, I can't say enough good about Ice. It dries crystal clear with fewer bubbles, less smell and it's non-toxic. For bezels and molding, there's none better and for paper it's outstanding, as well.
It really is a superior product that I'm proud to represent.
Make sure you check out the website...here...for articles, instructions, tips and inspiration. Oh...are you having fun blog hopping this week? Take a look at my Ice resin hop entry here and, if you'd like to join in it's not too late...check the Objects and Elements blog, here, for how to's.

Hello,
I've been using ice resin for a couple weeks now but cant seem to dome correctly. my resin is runny and always spells over the edge. can you give me some tips.
Thanks!

I've had a bottle of the stuff sitting here since the summer but until I saw your pics I really couldn't get too excited about it! Ok, ok I'll get going! I've had some ideas for months but I'll have to get to my local copying place to have some color reductions done of bits and bobs that I've been saving for the resin work. Thanks for the inspiration!

OOOhwee, this is great! I have used Diamond Glaze so far and purchased Ice resin. I kind of got shy to use it when I read the instructions, so I will check back here when I finally get to play with it.
Thanks Deryn!!

Congratulations! Your work is beautiful--I can see why you received the certification!
I'd love to take one of your classes. Do you ever get to Kansas? Heartland Bead Market in Lenexa (a suburb of Kansas City) offeres classes, and I'd be there in a heartbeat if you were to teach there (hint hint).

Sherry, the resin domes if you pour it that way. If you fill, then slightly over-fill, your bezel, it will dome very nicely. You can get quite a high dome. If you paint it on, it doesn't dome so much. Also, you can fill your bezel so that it's not so full and it doesn't dome so much.

Hi Pattie,
As you know, I live in Houston, which is a sub-tropical environment. It's extremely humid here, during the summer. I haven't had a single problem with the resin being sticky or tacky. It mixed better when the temperature is a little warmer. It takes at least 6 hours to dry and about three days to completely set. I can usually start working with my poured pieces about 24 hours after pouring.

Deryn,
Can you tell me how IR behaves in a higher prolong humidity environment???? Will it harden?? Will it be sticky/tacky?? Is there a way of compensating for the increase moisture in the air?? Or like crackle mediums do I just not use it during the rainy season???
Thanks for your as always excellent advice!! :)
Pattie ;)

That is such awesome news Deryn! I need to do some more hopping. I love what I have seen so far and it inspires me to get out my popsicle sticks and start mixing up a batch! I think that sometimes it is more fun to do resin with a group, to share ideas and all that resin (it goes quite a long way, in my recollection). Congrats to you. They couldn't pick someone better qualified. Enjoy the day! Erin
