"God's Mighty Deeds"
Remember this project? Back in February, the always creative Seth Apter of The Altered Page fame, invited artist's to join him in a constructing a collaborative project. Well, actually, the project involves more de-struction than con-struction. The original guidelines were for each artist to create a bundle, place it outside and watch the magic of disintegration...observe the graceful aging and slow deterioration of our bundles. The unveiling of these projects began May 1st. Here's what my bundle looked like on March 25th...
...and here it is on May 1st...
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I think my bundle is becoming more beautiful in it's un-loveliness.
It's a little more rusty...
...a little more bent...
...a little more crackled and aged...a little better!
For links to all of the participants before and after shots, go to Seth's blog where they're listed in the right sidebar. Of course, Seth's creative brain has been working since February and he's been inspired to take this collaboration even further. Stay tuned to The Altered Page to see what transpires!

I am attracted to the marks and designs that a rusty object can make and mark our papers. You have some interesting pages to divulge in your renewal process. WooHoo! for you! This has been such an interesting journey for everyone. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

I especially like the lines created by the rusted wire.

your bundle is utterly gorgeous in its post-state. i particularly adore the rusty remnants on the paper. can't wait to see it again in its next magical state.

Very lovely indeed, the rusty wire is a great touch. Such an inspired project Seth came up with, can't wait to see what amazing creations come out of it all.

Deryn,
It sounded like I was your disintegration project!!! Your description described me perfectly.
I've been out-for-the-count because of shoulder surgery and travel. i sent you your payment for the jewelry zine today. Hope you got it.

Lovely photographs, Deryn. The rusty criss-crossing on the paper is going to be effective. I love rust...except when it gets on my clothes...which is often.

ok.....i'm new to all this, but i'm now the biggest fan of rust..in wet ole michigan, i will have to begin new bundles in the fall, with lots of rust making stuff. anyway, i think every part of your bundle is perfect!! the bend and curves and criss/crosses of rust and the crackled backing!!
make my day!

Deryn
The way in which the rust is leaving marks on the paper is fabulous. Rust can be such a fickle mistress. Currently, I am trying to get the impression of chair springs on some fabric by leaving it outside. The fabric dries so quickly, I am going to have to cultivate patience.

after the fact i always wish i did
:(

your bundle has nifty rust spots
and rusty wires...that can be repurposed into your jewelry!
