I'm back from Art Unraveled in Phoenix and look what I brought home! I made all of this beautiful jewelry in Richard Salley's classes. I was lucky enough to take three classes from Richard and I had such fun! Richard is one of the most generous and kind teachers I've had and you just can't believe the gorgeous jewelry he creates. If you visit his website, you'll see that he is also an extremely talented photographer and mixed media artist. I highly recommend his classes! Not only that but I now have the honor of owning one of Richard's pieces:

I also took a class from the gifted wire artist Sharilyn Miller. Sharilyn taught us how to make this spider weave pendant which can be worn three different ways. She's an awesome jewelry designer and teacher and I'm looking forward to learning more from her at Art & Soul in Portland, Oregon this October.

The last class I was took was with the lovely Roben Marie Smith. Roben Marie's projects are always a pleasure to complete. She and her assistant Ronnie are the most organized teachers. They supply almost everything needed for the class and everyone finishes in class! It was a wonderful, relaxing class and, as an added bonus, I got to sit with my friend Maija Lepore. Maija is just as sweet in person as she is online. Here's the journal we created:
I roomed with my good friend and talented jewelry artist Lorraine George. We had a great time taking Richard's classes together and talked pretty much non-stop all weekend.
One of the best parts of AU was that I had the pleasure of meeting several online friends. In addition to Maija, I was thrilled to meet the vivacious Kelly Snelling and sweet Mary Haldeman for the first time in person. Angie Platten and her husband generously invited a group of us into their home where HE cooked us an incredible gourmet meal...thanks again Angie!! I also got to spend some time with my friend DJ Pettitt and meet Karyn Gartel, who's bright and beautiful artwork sold out almost immediately at vendor day! I was so happy to have the opportunity to meet Sylvia Luna, who is just incredibly talented and to meet the equally creative Marie Otero. I was in one of Richard's classes with Marie and Sylvia and found their take on his projects very inspiring! I've been emailing back and forth with most of these friends for awhile now and it was one of the highlights of my trip to be able to meet up with them! I just wish we'd had more time to spend together...
Needless to say, my trip was short but sweet...a whirlwind of art, friends and creativity!
