BoHo Bliss
Hoops!
An online jewelry making workshop by Deryn Mentock
Registration is now closed. This class runs June 15 to Aug. 15, 2012.
Free yourself from the conventional! Fresh, feminine and a little bit funky, my BoHo Hoops are your perfect summer jewelry and the perfect summer jewelry project. These will sweep against your neck and tickle your fancy….make you want to twirl. Build them plain for a simple, classic hoop (if you must wear them to, say…the office) or add gemstones for a glimmer of color. What better way to welcome the warm summer sunshine?
In this class, you’ll learn to anneal and harden…forge and texture…shaping the metal to your will. You’ll learn how to create two different styles of hoop earrings; BoHo and Abacus as well as how to make perfect ear wires, with a little surprise or two thrown in. Big bonus: this workshop is bursting with tons of technique you’ll be able to use in so many other jewelry making projects. My approach to jewelry making is casual in method, yet I demand perfection from my pieces. I'll show you how to achieve this balance with simple tools and key techniques resulting in distinctive and elegant pieces. Here is some of what you’ll learn in class with me:
- using a torch
- drawing a bead on wire
- making paddle headpins
- forging and forming
- texturing metal
- tool use
- how to use a simple butane torch
- basic dremel use
- resources
- and...much...more!
You'll have unlimited access to my private classroom including detailed videos that enable you to watch each and every step, close up and personal. You’ll also get downloadable pdf's of tool lists and resources.
Bonus project:
Lodestar Lantern Hoops
