We're wrapping things up in our Of Towers and Turrets class and Sharon and I have been amazed by the work coming from our students. I'm pleased to present more student work, here, to show you just what kind of imaginative whirlwind has been going on in class.

A great feature of this class is that it's really a two-for-the-price-of-one deal. Our students have been hard at work on their mixed media pieces...and they're wonderful! Once they've finished with that, they move on to create their own lovely "towers" bezels.

This is where the mixed media paintings come into play. The students have the option of using their paintings in their bezels or using another image. There are so many options and I love seeing what they come up with.

Of Towers and Turrets Student Work

Wow! I'm loving the work that's coming out of our Of Towers and Turrets class. My very favorite part of teaching is seeing my student's skills and creativity grow, in leaps and bounds. Sharon and I designed this class to encourage our students to jump into our creative vortex...and that's just what's happening!

The first part of the class...a complete class in it's own right, really...is geared toward painting and mixed media. Seriously, you can see how great class is going.

The second part of the class (again, a class all on it's own) is the metal portion. In this part of class, I show the students everything they ever wanted to know about making soft soldered bezels with mixed metals.

Of Towers and Turrets Registration Ending

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Sharon and I have had to change our deadline for registration for our Of Towers and Turrets online workshop to Jan. 9th.

This means that you only have a few more days to register! If you're worried about joining in late...don't be. It's a work-at-your-own-pace class doesn't end until Feb. 15th.

Of Towers and Turrets-Registration Now Open

The best laid plans often go awry. I'd been working on some brand new (exciting!) online class material that I had intended to offer for the new year but my recent health problems (darned shoulders!) have derailed my plan. Instead, I'm happy to announce open registration for my super popular online workshop, Of Towers and Turrets.

This class is starting just in time for the Christmas season...Dec. 15th. So, if you're looking to gift someone...or yourself...this is a terrific way to go.

If you're not familiar with this class, I teach it with my friend and extraordinary artist, Sharon Tomlinson. It's really two classes in one. Sharon will teach you how to collage, make amazing background papers, paint, carve stamps and TONS of other stuff.

I'll show you how to work with metal, solder, make your own bezels, work with cold connections work with resin and TONS of other stuff!

The Build Zone-Let The Build Begin

Let the building begin! The first day of class for The Build Zone is Saturday, Oct. 1st. That's this Saturday! If you haven't registered yet, click here for more info. Registration will remain open through Nov. 1st but if you want to get the most from your workshop, you should definitely register early.

This class was very popular the last time I offered it and I probably won't offer it again for quite awhile. I have something new up my sleeve for after the first of the year! :) We'll be building until Nov. 30, the last day of class. Click here if you need convincing.

The Build Zone-Online Jewelry Making Class

Today is the first day of registration for my Build Zone class. If you've ever wanted to learn how to make jewelry or expand on the skills you have, this is a great way to do it.

Workshop News

BoHo Hoops

Today is the last day to register for my BoHo Bliss online workshop.  (Click here for info.) As you can see from the student work (scroll down to my previous post) we've been having some fun in this class!

Class ends August 31st so you still have time to work through the lessons.  If not, I'll be offering this one again next summer. Next up...

...registration for The Build Zone will begin September 1st.  That's right around the corner!  I'll be running it through the fall and winter...October 1st through November 30th...two full months.  For those of you who haven't taken this workshop, it's an awesome one for building your jewelry making skills, working on design skills and focusing on finishing your jewelry in a professional way. 

Basically, The Build Zone is chock-a-block full of techniques and info...too much to go into here...so, if you're interested, pop over here and take a look.  I hope to see you in class!

Heidi: This is my 3rd class with Deryn and she's the best out there.  Considering the amount of info packed into these videos, this is the best bang for the buck there is.  Plus, you can watch them in your jammies at 2AM, which is what I am doing.  Who needs sleep when you can play with fire and pound on metal?

I've been furiously working on this bonus lesson for my BoHo Bliss online workshop.  A lodestar is defined as something that serves as a guide...upon which the attention is fixed.  Appropriate for these hoops, don't you think?  The curvy shape reminds me of a Turkish lantern...mysterious, warm, light giving.  I think you're gonna love making these and am so happy to include them in the workshop!  Included, as well:
