Deryn Mentock

My art is inspired and spontaneous. A soulful exercise in creative chaos; it is a complex layering of many different materials including paint, ink, paper, original photographs and found elements. Much of my artwork involves exploration into spiritual matters and is an intuitive and personal reflection of my beliefs and experiences. I usually begin a piece by working from a thought, phrase or word that inspires me and triggers the creative process. I favor working with unique images, timeworn ephemera, antique books and interesting cast-off objects. Color, texture and composition are integral to each piece. For me, the act of creating reveals an intuitive message of hope and faith.
